January 2010Happy New Year Everyone!  Where do I begin? The new year has got off to a busy start both personally and professionally. My 2 year old daughter has begun playgroup which allows me a small amount of freedom to catch up on the other domestic chores. The good news is that she loves it so I am not one of those parents leaving a crying, hysterical child – I simply get a, “bye Mummy. See you later!”

At myOrganiser we are lucky to continue growing despite the current economic climate. I guess there will always be a demand for a service that really does make lives easier!  However, we are also blessed to have such excellent staff, in particular our Head Housekeeper Maria who really has helped make the company stronger and able for growth.

Right now I am in the process of organising staff timetables to fit in with new clients, whilst giving our staff the most productive days possible in terms of travel time and hours for themselves. It can be a tricky business, though lucky for me Deborah is quite a pro at it, to say the least!

Well I must go now, as my work never does end…I can hear Lilly calling - or it may be the work phone ringing!

November 2009And as this is my first ever Blog perhaps I should begin by telling you a little about myself.

There are actually a number of Lynnes (all you women out there can relate!) Lynne the mum, Lynne the partner and Lynne the busy manager of myOrganiser Ltd.  Most of you only know me as the latter.

My typical day begins with a cheery 6am wake up call from my darling 13 month old, Lilly (and that is on a good day). I try to wash and get ready for the busy day ahead while Lilly does everything in her power to prevent me from catching the 7.20am bus. (Yes buses are another subject I could say a lot on!)  My one blessing is that my partner Phil can stay at home with Lilly while I work – we are a very modern couple as we share childcare 50/50.

My working day begins with a text message from a staff member stating she has a fever and can’t go into work – not a good start to do the day.  However I have it resolved within 20 minutes and I can enjoy reading Metro on the bus.

Once I reach my office I can savour the latest in high fashion purchases (courtesy of my boss Deborah Forrest) - a funky yet practical laptop bag.   As I am often out and about in Edinburgh meeting clients and ensuring our staff continue to give of their best, I need something to carry my laptop and other materials in. Bored with the typical plain black ones, I found a very cute Dakine bag which is covered in flowers. Typical girl I know!

As Christmas Approaches I am in the midst of making sure all our clients are well looked after during such a busy time of year, combining that with our staff holidays makes it quite a challenge to get everything right.  As well as this we have staff appraisals on the horizon to see how our valued team members have fared this past year.

Another event myself and our staff are excited about is the long awaited Christmas Meal, which always involves good food and conversation – along with some silly Christmas songs to boot!
